Honda Ties for Leading Automaker in Cars.com 2022 American-Made Index with Four Models in Top 10

June 21, 2022 — MARYSVILLE, Ohio Alabama-built Honda Passport, Ridgeline, Odyssey, Pilot in top 10 Ohio-built Acura MDX, RDX and TLX in top 20 More than two-thirds of Honda automobiles sold in the U.S. are made in America Honda’s commitment to building* products in America was on display in the Cars.com 2022 American-Made Index® — with four Honda models in the top 10 and seven Honda and Acura models ranking among the top 20. Honda vehicles in the top 10 are the Alabama-made Honda Passport SUV, Ridgeline pickup, Odyssey minivan and Pilot SUV. Three Ohio-made Acura models — the Acura flagship, fourth generation MDX SUV, RDX premium sport crossover and TLX premium sport sedan — placed 14th, 15th and 16th respectively. All four of the Honda models in the top 10 —Passport, Ridgeline, Odyssey and Pilot — also were designed and developed by Honda engineers in the U.S. and are produced exclusively in Lincoln, Alabama. Moreover, the engines that power these vehicles also are built at Honda’s Alabama Auto Plant, with the transmissions produced nearby at Honda’s transmission plant in Tallapoosa, Georgia. "Honda began auto production in Ohio 40 years ago based on our commitment to build products close to our U.S. customers,” said Rick Schostek, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We’re proud of the team of nearly 30,000 Honda associates in the U.S., particularly those who produce quality Honda and Acura vehicles at our five auto manufacturing plants in America, including our development and purchasing associates who work together to realize our high level of local production." More than two-thirds of the Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2021 were made in America at Honda plants in Ohio, Indiana and Alabama, the second-highest percentage of any full-line automaker for the share of vehicles that were built and sold in America. Honda operates five automobile plants in the U.S. – more than any other international automaker. All Acura models sold in the U.S. are built in Ohio. The Acura MDX, RDX and TLX built in Ohio, also were designed and developed by Honda engineers in the U.S. Honda has produced more than 29 million cars and light trucks in the U.S. over the last 40 years and has purchased $470 billion in parts and materials from U.S. mass production suppliers during that same time period. Cars.com assesses several factors for the American-Made Index: location of final assembly; percentage of U.S. and Canadian parts; country of origin for available engines; country of origin for available transmissions; U.S. manufacturing employees relative to the automaker's footprint. An Electrified Future The plan for Honda’s electrified future was laid out by global CEO Toshihiro Mibe in April 2021, and it was underway soon thereafter. Mibe’s plan is one part of the larger picture at Honda, with the corporation looking to achieve carbon-neutrality by 2050. Honda aims to have 40 percent of its North American sales to be of battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles by 2030. From there, Honda hopes to have 80 percent of its sales from electric vehicles just five short years after, in 2035. By 2040, Honda will have reached its goal of 100 percent electric vehicle sales. As a part of the plan to be carbon-neutral by 2040, Honda has announced it will release a new battery-electric vehicle in 2024 — the Prologue SUV. The Prologue was co-developed with GM and is based on their Ultium platform, a flat-cell battery platform developed for maximum range. Honda hopes to sell around 70,000 Prologues with their initial sales target projections. After the Prologue is introduced, Honda has plans to work on introducing a series of electrified vehicles by 2026. This series of electrified vehicles will be built on the Honda e: Architecture platform, with vehicles being produced all throughout North America. Honda is targeting the release of 30 EV models by the year 2030, with many of those models available in both China and North America. With this push toward electrifying its lineup, it is clear that Honda has its focus shifted toward a better, cleaner and greener future. Honda Continues Drive Toward Electrified Future

September 20, 2021 — TORRANCE, Calif. Initial annual sales target for Honda Prologue to top 70,000 units at launch in 2024 Electrified Honda vehicle sales anticipated to reach 500,000 units by 2030 as the company advances vision of 100 percent zero emissions sales by 2040 Honda today announced an initial annual sales target of 70,000 units for the Prologue SUV, Honda’s first new volume battery-electric vehicle (BEV), when it goes on sale in 2024. Following the launch of Prologue, Honda brand electrified vehicle sales will be boosted by the introduction of additional vehicles based on its new e-Architecture now being developed. This will take Honda to anticipated sales of 500,000 BEVs by 2030, and ultimately leading to 100 percent zero emission vehicles sales in North America by 2040. As with other automakers, Honda’s initial zero emission vehicle sales goals of 40 percent by 2030 are contingent upon fair and equitable access to state and federal EV incentives intended to encourage American consumers to purchase electric vehicles. Honda has urged Congress to ensure that all vehicles made in America are treated equally. “Launching our first volume BEV in 2024 is the start of an exciting new direction for Honda,” said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of National Operations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We are working with our dealers to plan the transition from sales of primarily gasoline-powered vehicles to selling 100-percent electric vehicles by 2040.” Honda’s initial approach to selling the Prologue will be regional, focusing on California and the ZEV states, including the BEV-friendly sunbelt states of Texas and Florida. Honda anticipates these regions will represent the bulk of sales at the onset of launch due to higher customer acceptance and regulatory requirements. As EV infrastructure expands and customer interest grows nationwide, the company will rapidly expand sales and marketing efforts to other areas of the country. In April 2021, Honda global CEO Toshihiro Mibe outlined the company’s vision for global sales of electrified vehicles as part of Honda’s strategy to achieve carbon-neutrality for its products and corporate activities by 2050. This vision calls for the sales ratio of battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles in North America to progress from 40 percent by 2030 and 80 percent by 2035 to 100 percent by 2040. More details about that announcement, are available here. Following the 2024 introduction of Honda Prologue, co-developed with GM and based on the Ultium platform, Honda will introduce a series of electrified vehicles in the second half of the decade based on the Honda developed e-Architecture and production of BEVs beginning at Honda plants in North America. Honda Electrified Vehicle History Honda has a long history of leadership in bringing electrified vehicles to market in the U.S., beginning almost a quarter century ago with the EV Plus electric vehicle (1997); to America’s first mass-produced hybrid, the Honda Insight (1999); the Honda FCX (2002), the industry’s first fuel cell vehicle in the hands of individual customers, and the Clarity series (2017). As Honda prepares for the launch of Prologue, the company will introduce hybrid-electric systems to more core models to continue to reduce CO2 emissions and bridge customers to the volume battery-electric vehicles now in development. “We know customers who have a good experience with a hybrid vehicle are more likely to buy a battery electric vehicle in the future,” said Gardner. “Our strategy is focused on introducing a higher percentage of hybrids in core models in the near term, making a committed effort to achieve higher volume leading to the introduction of our Honda Prologue.” Honda achieved record sales of electrified vehicles in each of the past three years, with sales momentum continuing in 2021. Led by CR-V Hybrid and Accord Hybrid, Honda just recorded its best-ever first-half year of electrified vehicle sales. About Honda Honda offers a full line of clean, safe, fun and connected vehicles sold through more than 1,000 independent U.S. Honda dealers. Honda has the highest fleet average fuel economy and lowest CO2 emissions of any major full-line automaker in America, according to the latest data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Honda lineup includes the Civic, Insight, Accord and Clarity series passenger cars, along with the HR-V, CR-V, Passport and Pilot sport utility vehicles, the Ridgeline pickup and the Odyssey minivan. Honda has been producing automobiles in America for 38 years and currently operates 18 major manufacturing facilities in North America. In 2020, more than 95 percent of all Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were made in North America, using domestic and globally sourced parts. Honda Transmission Plant Associates Earn State of Ohio Award

January 27, 2022 — RUSSELLS POINT, Ohio Associates at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio recently earned the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Gold Star Adopt-a-Highway designation. The Honda facility’s associates were honored for 25 years of their volunteer litter collection events along the Russells Point facility’s roadways. Gold Star Adopt-a-Highway designation is awarded to organizations for events held for five or more years, that have conducted at least four pickups per year and that completed them safely. Over the last 25 years, Honda Transmission Plant associates have held more than 100 Adopt-a- Highway events, consistently prioritizing safety while promoting environmental excellence through the initiatives. “This honor celebrates our Honda associates who have volunteered over the past quarter century to make our community a better place by collecting litter during Adopt-a-Highway events,” said Gerald Bruch, plant lead at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio. “Our goal as a company is to be a company that society wants to exist and it is the efforts of Honda associates that help make that possible.” Honda Transmission Plant associates have conducted litter pickup events on State Route 235, State Route 274 and State Route 708. “I enjoy participating in the Adopt-a-Highway program because I know it’s making a difference in the community,” said Scott A. Williams, an Ohio transmission plant associate who has participated in the litter collection events throughout the last 25 years. “I am proud to work for a company like Honda that takes time to contribute to the community. It makes associates feel good driving down the road and looking at green grass and knowing that what we do with this program makes a difference.” About the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio Honda’s Transmission Plant in Ohio began producing automatic transmissions for North American-built models in 1996. Today, the plant produces CVT transmissions and their high- precision gears, rear differentials and transfer cases for all-wheel-drive automobiles, gear sets for the 10-speed automatic transmission assembled in Honda’s Georgia Transmission Plant and the two-motor hybrid system that helps Honda hybrid-electric vehicles produced in the U.S. In 2014, the Ohio Transmission Plant became the first auto transmission plant in the U.S. to obtain a substantial amount of its electricity directly from two wind turbines located on its property and, in 2019, the first U.S. auto transmission plant to earn the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification. Honda “Green Factory” Initiative Honda seeks to produce vehicles with the lowest CO2 emissions at plants with the smallest environmental footprint. The company’s “green factory” initiative is working comprehensively to address the environmental impacts of product manufacturing, including water use, energy use, waste and emissions. Honda has reduced the CO2 emissions intensity of automobile production in North America by 12 percent since 2012 and has cut waste to landfills from manufacturing by 90 percent since 2001. All Honda mass production auto plants earned 2020 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR Certification for outstanding energy efficiency. The company also is moving toward the use of renewable wind and solar power for the vast majority of the electricity it consumes in its manufacturing operations. Honda is investing in technologies and processes to produce electrified vehicles in North America, including the Accord Hybrid and Acura NSX in Ohio and the Honda Insight hybrid sedan and CR-V Hybrid in Indiana. The 2022 Honda Accord, voted as one of Car and Drivers 10Best Cars.

Honda Wins Their 36th Car and Driver 10Best Award for the Accord

For a historic and record-breaking 36th time, the Honda Accord has found itself on Car and Driver’s 10Best Award list this year. The Honda Accord has long found itself on this prestigious list, however, landing on it for the 36th time is a true marvel to behold. Honda is the most winningest brand in Car and Driver 10Best history, with at least one Honda vehicle making it to the prestigious list every year since its inception in 1983, making a total of 66 awards. Known for their incredible reliability and outstanding value, its no surprise that Honda has once again found itself topping Car and Driver’s 10Best Award list for the 36th time. Earning a spot on Car and Driver’s 10Best Award list is no easy feat, as it is comprised of the best cars, trucks, and SUVs available on the market, and competition is quite fierce. Despite such fierce competition, Honda, and more specifically the Accord, finds itself at the top of that list year after year. The Accord performs at such a high level, even the team at Car and Driver finds it hard to resist recommending. "Year after year we find ourselves recommending the Honda Accord to friends and family looking for a fun-to-drive, safe and fuel-efficient sedan," said Eddie Alterman, Chief Brand Officer of Car and Driver. "Refined, dynamically engaging, and affordable, the 2022 Honda Accord is the benchmark of the midsize sedan class. Congratulations to Honda on Accord's impressive winning streak." Honda holds Car and Driver’s 10Best list in quite a high regard, seeing it as a list that even represents the same core values that Honda does. This is evidenced by a quote from Honda’s Vice President of National Sales, Michael Kistemaker, as he is quoted as saying — "At Honda, we have long appreciated Car and Driver 's recognition of its own core values in our Honda Accord –intelligence, irreverence, and independence. It helps that Accord also happens to be fun-to-drive, safe, and fuel-efficient...Thank you to the editors of Car and Driver for honoring the Accord for a record 36th year. It never gets old.” In order to keep themselves appearing at the top of Car and Driver’s 10Best list, Honda has always flowed with the times, keeping their vehicles on the cutting edge of technology and design trends. Keeping the Accord up with the times, Honda has replaced the EX trim level on the Accord Hybrid, with the new and exciting Sport trim level. Some of the key features on the new Accord Hybrid Sport include the following: 19-inch alloy wheels LED Headlamps LED Fog Lights A black rear spoiler Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration Heated front seats Sirius XM Radio An 8-speaker audio system Sport pedals With so many exciting new additions and features, it’s easy to see why the Honda Accord is consistently rated by Car and Driver as one of the best cars available on the market, year after year. However, the Accord hasn’t just built its name based on the features and technology it offers, its name is built upon a strong foundation of performance and reliability. Reliability is one of Honda’s strong suits, as they have been known to produce some of the most reliable and longest-lasting vehicles on the market today. Honda has not strayed from this mindset, as they are offering some of the most reliable powertrains their cars have ever had in them. The 2022 Honda Accord made its way to the top of Car and Driver’s 10Best list thanks to these three wonderful and reliable powertrains: A 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and CVT transmission; capable of 192-horsepower. A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and 10-speed automatic; capable of 252-horsepower. A 2-motor hybrid powertrain; capable of 212-horsepower and up to 48mpg combined. These ultra-reliable and high-performing powertrains helped propel the 2022 Honda Accord to the top of Car and Driver’s 10Best list, and it’s no secret as to why. Honda’s efforts on the 2022 Accord have once again set the bar for other cars in the midsize sedan segment, a segment that Honda has long dominated. For the last 50 years, the Honda Accord has been one of America’s best-selling cars, selling over 14 million units in the United States, with over 12 million of those units being made right here in the U.S. Are you located in Cape May Court House or the surrounding areas, and looking to get your hands on the award-winning 2022 Honda Accord? It also promises driving enthusiasts an even more dynamic experience, with ride and handling developed in Europe and an upgraded 6-speed manual transmission available with both the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbocharged engines. Civic Hatchback includes all of the technological updates made to the 2022 Civic Sedan, including a new standard single-camera Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. Key options include a 9” color touchscreen, Bose premium sound system and a 10.2-inch all-digital instrument display. “Civic Hatchback plays a critical role in the Honda lineup and we expect the all-new 11th-generation model to be even more popular than its predecessor,” said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of National Operations, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “With its sporty, fun-to-drive driving character, Euro exterior styling and flexible interior packaging, the new Civic Hatchback will appeal to those all-important young and active buyers.” Reintroduced to the U.S. market with the 10th-generation Civic in 2016, Civic Hatchback has proven itself a breakout hit and has grown to account for more than 20 percent of all Civic sales. With more than 1.7 million units sold in 10th generation form, Civic has been the No. 1 selling vehicle in America – car or light truck – with first-time buyers, Millennials, Gen Z and multicultural customers over the last five years 1. Its low hood, front fenders and horizontal beltline grounds the body, accentuates the wheels and tires, and enables an expansive, airy greenhouse. Compared to the 10th-generation Civic Hatchback, its windshield pillars also have been moved rearward by nearly 2 inches (1.96 inches), its wheelbase is 1.4-inches longer and its rear track is 0.5-inch wider. Civic Hatchback incorporates unique styling cues to give it an even sportier attitude, including a distinctive grille mesh with a slight concave shape. For a sportier coupe-like profile, the Hatchback's rear overhang and overall length are 4.9-inches shorter than the Civic Sedan's. The Hatchback's smoother, sleeker roof line is made possible by a new lightweight composite hatch and by moving the hinge mechanism outward, allowing a roof height reduction of 50 mm in the hinge area. A unique taillight design, and center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) that spans nearly the entire width of its hatch, further emphasize Hatchback's wider rear track. Eight colors are available on the 2022 Civic Hatchback, including two new hues: Boost Blue Pearl and Smokey Mauve Pearl. Versatile Human-Centered Interior Design Civic Hatchback's interior features many of the ame design and packaging elements as the new and critically acclaimed cabin of the Civic Sedan. By evoking the human-centered cabin design of early generations of Civic, the Hatchback's new interior is simple, clean and uncluttered with exceptional visibility, intuitive ergonomics, extraordinary passenger volume and driver-focused technology. Also like the Civic Sedan, outward visibility is enhanced by Civic's pulled-back A-pillars, low hood, flat dashboard, low cowl and repositioned outside mirrors, which are now mounted on the doors. The instrument panel is designed with a minimum of cutlines to reduce windshield reflections and visual distractions, and the attractive new metal honeycomb instrument panel accent isn't just visually striking, it hides the air vents. Class-above materials are also used, especially on touchpoints, and careful attention has been paid to the premium action of all switchgear and controls. In the rear, Civic Hatchback features larger side windows, a new small corner window in the C-pillar and a single piece rear window to enhance rearward visibility, creating a more spacious and airy feeling for rear seat passengers. Civic Hatchback rear legroom has been improved by nearly 1.4 inches and rear headroom has been preserved, thanks to the new hinge design for the new composite hatch. Interior versatility is key to Civic Hatchback's unique character, with generous cargo space more easily accessible thanks to a 1.6-inch wider lower hatch opening and low lift-over height. The standard 60/40 split seatback can be quickly folded for expanded capacity and the side-pull cargo cover makes it easy to quickly open or conceal the rear cargo area. Standard on all Civic Hatchback grades, Honda's new Body Stabilizing Seat enhances comfort on long drives. In addition, Civic Hatchback is available in EX-L grade, offering the same perforated leather seats with added shoulder support as available in Sport Touring grades. Civic Hatchback LX and Sport feature cloth and combination seat trim, respectively. New Rigid Body Improves Dynamics and Safety Performance Civic Hatchback's new body structure shows significant gains in rigidity, with a 19 percent improvement in torsional rigidity versus the previous generation. The stiffer structure supports improvements in ride, handling and refinement. Reductions in noise, vibration and harshness are further augmented with the extensive use of structural adhesives, spray-in foam in the pillars, and additional sound deadening in the firewall and under the floor. To meet present and anticipated future collision standards while minimizing additional weight, Civic Hatchback uses the next generation of Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This is realized through careful design coupled with the use of lightweight materials, such as aluminum and various grades of high-strength steel, as well as the additional structural adhesives. Sporty and Fun Powertrains For the 11th-generation, Civic Hatchback offers two engine choices for the first time, and both will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission. LX and Sport grades feature a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, producing 158 horsepower at 6,500 rpm (SAE net) and 138 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm (SAE net). It's coupled with a revised CVT that enhances fuel efficiency through the use of a more robust electric hydraulic pump that reduces the load on the mechanical pump, and a ball-bearing secondary shaft to reduce friction. The CVT also has been programmed to provide early downshifts during braking and features revised Step-Shift programming that simulates physical gear changes under hard acceleration for a more familiar and enjoyable driving experience. Fuel efficiency and emissions are notably improved due in part to a new standard idle-stop system (CVT only) and a new catalytic converter design. Powering EX-L and Sport Touring trims is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder producing 180 horsepower at 6,000 rpm (SAE net) and 177 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,700 to 4,500 rpm (SAE net) on 87 octane gasoline. Multiple measures contribute to improved fuel economy ratings, including new more efficient turbo plumbing and the addition of Variable Timing and lift Electronic Control (VTEC®) to the exhaust valves. The CVT for the 1.5-liter turbo features improved torque converter performance, while also adopting revised Step-Shift programming. A new 6-speed manual transmission is available in Sport and Sport Touring grades. The transmission has been revised for an even sportier feel with improved shift rigidity and shorter shift throws. A new dual-mass flywheel helps reduce noise and vibration transmitted through the drivetrain. In addition to the standard Normal and Eco driving modes, 2.0L Sport and 1.5L Sport Touring trims of the 2022 Civic Hatchback with the CVT now feature a user-selectable Sport mode. Using a toggle switch on the center console, the new Sport mode alters the drive ratios and mapping for a sportier feel. Eco mode reduces throttle and transmission sensitivity, as well as air conditioning output to help preserve fuel efficiency. Chassis Tuned for Responsiveness, Fun-to-Drive and Comfort For maximum driver enjoyment, Civic Hatchback's suspension and steering were developed in Europe and fine-tuned for North America. Civic has long been recognized as the benchmark for sporty handling in the compact class, and this is the most fun-to-drive Civic Hatchback ever. Similar to Sedan, the front MacPherson struts feature new low-friction ball joints and front damper mount bearings to improve steering feel and self-centering. The spring and damper alignment has been optimized to minimize operational friction, and a new larger compliance bushing with an improved bushing axis minimizes harshness. The rear track's 0.5-inch additional width adds stability and the additional 1.4-inches of wheelbase help smooth out its ride quality. New rear lower control arm bushings promote better straight-line stability and turn in, while reducing noise and vibration inside the cabin. The electronic power steering has been re-tuned to provide better feedback and improved straight-line stability. These suspension and steering upgrades result in a smoother, more linear and more precise feel in turns, with the reduction in yaw delay leading to a more responsive and synchronized feeling behind the wheel. Additionally, the reduced suspension friction and improved bushings help reduce harsh road shock, such as when going over railroad crossings, by 20 percent. Additional chassis updates include new low-drag front brake calipers, and low-friction front and rear wheel bearings to reduce rolling resistance, helping improve fuel economy ratings. The all-new aluminum front subframe, with an efficient truss and rib structure, provides rigidity and stability. Technology that Serves the Driver This is also the most technologically advanced Civic Hatchback ever featuring digital meters for the first time and larger touchscreens for the 2022 model year. Civic LX, Sport and EX-L grades are equipped with a new 7-inch color LCD instrument display which features an all-digital speedometer and tachometer on the left side, and a physical speedometer dial on the right. Civic's new all-digital LCD instrument display is standard on the Hatchback Sport Touring model. This 10.2-inch display features a configurable high-definition full-color LCD panel with either a traditional layout of round needle-and-dial gauge displays or a bar-graph style design. Drivers also can display a variety of user-selectable information, such as the current music selection and a trip computer, on the left and right side of the screen. The middle of the display is used to indicate the status of various Honda Sensing® safety and driver-assistive systems, and the Civic icon on the screen features brake lights, headlights and turn signals that turn on and off with those functions. LX, Sport and EX-L grades come standard with a new 7” color touchscreen, the largest standard screen in Civic history, with physical power/volume knob and a tuning/selection knob. In addition to large, easy-to-recognize icons and a simplified navigation structure with fewer embedded menus, the 9” touchscreen features a physical volume knob and hard buttons for Home and Back functions. A 0.8-inch finger rest immediately below the screen on all Civics provides a stable surface to rest your hand, so using the touchscreen is easier and less distracting while driving. Bose Premium Sound System A new available Bose audio system takes Civic audio to the next level, thanks to Centerpoint 2 and Bose SurroundStage digital signal processing that is custom-engineered precisely for the Civic's new interior. Regardless of seating position, drivers and passengers are placed in the middle of the music, with a clear and spacious listening experience for all audio content. Expert audio engineers developed the Bose sound system with advanced components and technologies, working closely with Honda engineers to integrate the system early in the vehicle design process for optimal performance. Clear, impactful sound is delivered through high-performance Bose speakers, strategically placed throughout the Civic's interior for exceptional music reproduction across all frequencies, low to high. Helping to preserve the quality of the listening experience, Dynamic Speed Compensation technology automatically adjusts volume and tone based on vehicle speed, reducing the need for drivers to manually adjust settings while on the road. Bose Premium Sound System details: One 3.25-inch (80 mm) Bose Twiddler mid/high-range speaker in the center of the instrument panel Four 1-inch (25 mm) lightweight neodymium tweeters – one in each A-pillar and one in each rear door Two 6.5-inch (165 mm) wide-range speakers – one in each front door Two 5.25-inch (130 mm) wide-range speakers – one in each rear door Two 3.25-inch (80 mm) Bose Twiddler mid/high-range speakers – one in each C-pillar One 8-inch (200 mm) woofer housed inside a custom enclosure mounted in the right rear quarter panel A Bose digital amplifier with 12 channels of custom equalization and advanced digital signal processing New and Advanced Safety Performance As with the Sedan, Civic Hatchback includes multiple new active and passive safety systems. This includes the world's first application of driver and passenger frontal airbags designed to better reduce the likelihood of injuries from severe brain trauma associated with angled frontal collisions. The new front driver's airbag uses an innovative donut-shaped structure to cradle and hold the head to reduce rotation. The passenger-side front airbag uses a three-chamber design to achieve a similar result, with two outer chambers designed to cradle and control head rotation. Civic's Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is enhanced for improved compatibility with larger vehicles. This includes improved occupant protection in angled frontal collisions, with a new upper A-pillar structure, side frame and lower firewall structure – all designed to route crash energy around the cabin. Side impact protection has been improved, with stiffer structures in the roof, side sill and B-pillar, doors, and the rear wheel arch and C-pillar. Standard on all Civic Hatchback grades is a new Honda Sensing® suite of active safety and driver-assistive technologies that uses a new single-camera system providing a longer, wider field of view than the previous radar-and-camera based system. Combined with software advances and a new, more powerful processor, the system is capable of more quickly and accurately identifying pedestrians, bicyclists and other vehicles, along with road lines and road signs. Honda Sensing® also adds Traffic Jam Assist, and the new camera-based system improves on existing functionality, such as more natural brake application and quicker reactions when using Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). It also has more linear and natural steering action when using the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). Sport Touring grades feature new Low-Speed Braking Control, and front and rear false-start prevention with the addition of eight sonar sensors. Honda leadership in advancing pedestrian safety continues. The 2022 Civic features a new front bumper beam safety plate designed to decrease leg injuries and a hood with an embossed inner structure designed to improve head protection performance. 2021 Honda CR-V, Passport and Odyssey Named “Best Cars for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report

2021 Honda CR-V, Passport and Odyssey Named “Best Cars for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report

The 2021 Honda CR-V, Passport and Odyssey have each won U.S. News & World Report “Best Car for the Money” awards in the magazine’s 2021 new car rankings. CR-V captured the compact SUV title. “The CR-V is proof that a top-ranked car doesn’t have to be a budget buster,” said U.S. News & World Report Executive Editor Jaime Paige Deaton. “Critics and buyers alike love how easy the CR-V is to live with. Its low ownership costs are the perfect complement to the CR-V’s practicality.” Passport prevailed in the 2-row SUV category. “The Passport is the perfect example of a car that balances value and quality,” said Deaton. “Though it isn’t the least expensive SUV in its class, it offers great long-term value, with plenty of space and comfort, and strong recommendations from critics. The Honda Odyssey triumphed in the minivan class. “Given how roomy and upscale the cabin on the Honda Odyssey is, you might be surprised to find that it’s not a budget buster,” Deaton noted. “While it’s not the cheapest minivan on the market, it does have the best combination of quality and value.” The “Best Cars for the Money” awards methodology combines measures of quality and value to create an overall award score. Quality is measured by the overall score a vehicle achieved in the U.S. News car rankings at the time the awards are published. The rankings, updated monthly at www.usnews.com/cars, compare cars based on safety, reliability, and a consensus of industry experts’ opinions. Value is measured by a combination of a vehicle’s five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published. Atop the grille is a crossbar that bisects the headlight lenses – gloss black on Sport trims and Black edition, chrome on RTL and RTL-E. Below, a new front bumper highlights the toughness of the new Ridgeline’s design and adds broad side vents that route air through the bumper and around the front tires and wheels, creating air curtains to improve aerodynamic performance. The body color is also extended farther down the front bumper, and a prominent skid plate emphasizes Ridgeline’s tough new look. In back, a reshaped bumper exposes aggressive new twin exhaust outlets. All trims feature tougher looking 18-inch wheels with backspacing reduced 10 mm, increasing track width a total of 20 mm and lending the Ridgeline a broader, more planted stance, bolstered by all-season tires with a new, more aggressive sidewall and shoulder design. In addition, Ridgelines in Sport trim add new cloth seat inserts, all trims get new contrast stitching on the seats, and Sport, RTL and RTL-E trims have new dash, steering wheel and center console accents. Ridgeline’s flat floor and foldaway 60/40-split rear seat bottoms continue to offer enhanced flexibility for carrying long and tall items in the cabin. Fully Automatic Torque-Vectoring AWD Standard on every 2021 Honda Ridgeline is a 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter direct-injected VTEC® V6 backed by a smooth and responsive 9-speed automatic transmission. Available on Sport and RTL, and standard on RTL-E and Black Edition, is Ridgeline’s i-VTM4® torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system, which automatically sends up to 70 percent of the engine’s 262 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels and continuously apportions 100 percent of that torque between the left and right rear wheels based on driving conditions at each wheel. Ridgeline-Exclusive Platform Design Underpinning its extraordinary packaging, hauling and driving character is Ridgeline’s unit-body construction, featuring Honda’s proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure and fully boxed frame members for the body sides and rear tailgate frame with truss-style inner construction, plus a robust fully independent rear suspension. This unique construction pays dividends with uncompromised ride comfort and handling on paved roads, while supporting a best-in-AWD class standard 1,580-pound payload capacity and up to 5,000-pound towing capacity. Ridgeline’s extra-wide stance enables an extra-wide standard bed, making it the only truck in its class that can flat-carry 4-foot wide items, such as plywood and drywall, between the wheel wells. Based on the packaging efficiency of its unibody construction and independent rear suspension, Ridgeline also comes standard with a washable, lockable In-Bed Trunk®, offering an additional 7.3 cu.-ft. of secure storage space under the bed floor. Ridgeline’s versatility as a cargo-hauling platform is enhanced by its Dual-Action Tailgate, which opens downward or to the side, making access to cargo and the In-Bed Trunk® a snap. The tailgate can handle dynamic loads of up to 300 pounds, supporting long payloads such as motorcycles and ATVs. Inside the bed are eight standard tie-down cleats rated at 350-pounds each, for securing loads, and the bed is constructed of glass fiber-reinforced SMC composite that resists dents and scratches without the need for a separate bed liner. An available In-Bed Audio system utilizes four “exciters” to turn Ridgeline’s entire bed into an outdoor speaker (RTL-E and up trims). Combined with its Dual Action Tailgate and In-Bed Trunk, which can do double duty as an ice-filled cooler, Ridgeline is a great tailgating companion. Safety & Driver-Assistive Technology Ridgeline comes standard with the Honda Sensing®, featuring Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
